A Senegalese Navy patrol vessel overturned Thursday morning at the mouth of the Senegal River after encountering rough sea conditions, leaving three sailors unaccounted for and ten others rescued.
According to the Armed Forces’ Directorate of Information and Public Relations, the boat was on a liaison mission when it capsized around 9 a.m., reportedly due to strong swells caused by worsening weather.
Rescue teams were able to recover ten personnel, while efforts continue to locate the three missing crew members.
Authorities confirmed that the wreckage has been retrieved and that extensive search operations involving air, sea, and ground units remain underway to find the missing sailors.
