President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has called for deeper cooperation between Nigeria and the United Kingdom, particularly in security, governance, and economic relations.
Speaking at a state banquet hosted by King Charles III at Windsor Castle, Tinubu highlighted the long-standing institutional ties between the two countries and emphasized shared democratic values rooted in British legal and parliamentary traditions.
He also praised the contributions of Nigerians in the UK, especially healthcare workers in the National Health Service, describing them as a key link in bilateral relations.
On security, Tinubu pointed to threats stemming from instability in the Sahel and stressed the importance of collaboration with the UK to tackle terrorism and maintain regional stability.
He reaffirmed Nigeria’s commitment to the Commonwealth of Nations and is expected to hold talks with UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer to further strengthen diplomatic and economic ties.
