Public officials and experts from the Alliance of Sahel States (AES) have begun strategic discussions in Ouagadougou to develop a coordinated action plan against fraud, a growing threat to both economic stability and security.
The meeting, led by Burkina Faso’s Minister of Economy and Finance Aboubakar Nacanabo, focuses on linking fraud to insecurity and strengthening national response systems.
Participants aim to improve cooperation, share expertise, and design a regional roadmap to tackle illicit financial flows, tax fraud, and cybercrime.
In the Sahel, fraud significantly weakens state revenues and fuels criminal networks, making it a key priority within broader security strategies.
