Mali and Senegal have reaffirmed their commitment to deepening collaboration in security and counterterrorism amid growing threats in the Kayes border region.
Malian Defense Minister Sadio Camara held talks with Senegal’s ambassador Fatoumata Binétou Rassoul Correa, focusing on strengthening coordination and joint responses to insecurity along their shared border.
The renewed momentum follows earlier high-level engagements, including a visit by Senegal’s Armed Forces Minister Birame Diop to Bamako.
Both countries have since intensified joint patrols, particularly along the strategic Diboli-Kidira corridor, as jihadist attacks expand westward, making border security a key priority for regional stability and economic resilience.
