MALI Strengthens academic cooperation with Iran through university partnership

Mali is reinforcing its academic cooperation with Iran following a meeting between the Minister of Higher Education, Professor Bouréma Kansaye, and the rector of Iran’s Al Moustapha University, which operates in Mali.

Discussions focused on Mali’s higher education needs and the potential role of the Iranian institution in supporting training, research, and academic development priorities.

During the meeting, the Malian minister expressed condolences over recent losses in Iran’s academic and scientific communities.

The engagement builds on existing cooperation, including plans announced in 2024 to establish Iranian-supported institutions in Bamako focusing on technical training and digital innovation.

Previous agreements between the two countries cover scholarships for Malian students, academic exchanges, joint research initiatives, and technological development programs.

This renewed engagement follows broader diplomatic ties, including high-level talks between Mali and Iran in 2025, and highlights a continued focus on education, innovation, and academic mobility.
