Côte d’Ivoire, Benin Renew Commitment to Regional Integration and Bilateral Cooperation

Côte d’Ivoire and Benin have reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening bilateral relations and promoting regional integration following talks between Presidents Alassane Ouattara and Romuald Wadagni in Abidjan.

President Wadagni, who is on his first regional tour since taking office, held a working visit with President Ouattara on Thursday at the Presidential Palace.

The meeting focused on enhancing cooperation between the two neighboring countries and addressing key challenges facing the subregion.

During the discussions, President Ouattara congratulated his Beninese counterpart on his recent election and expressed confidence in his leadership.

Both leaders praised the longstanding ties of friendship and cooperation between their nations and pledged to further deepen their partnership.

The two presidents emphasized the importance of boosting trade, encouraging investment, and promoting joint development initiatives aimed at creating opportunities for young people and women.

They also highlighted the need for sustainable and inclusive economic growth that benefits both countries.

On regional matters, the leaders exchanged views on security, economic, and climate-related challenges affecting West Africa.

They stressed that peace, stability, and stronger cooperation among African nations remain essential for addressing the region’s growing challenges.

The meeting also underscored the importance of maintaining regular dialogue and strengthening regional integration efforts.

Both presidents agreed to continue high-level consultations and work closely on issues of common interest.

At the end of the visit, President Wadagni thanked the Ivorian authorities for their hospitality and formally invited President Ouattara to pay a state visit to Benin.

The invitation was accepted, with both sides expected to determine a suitable date through diplomatic channels.
