Gambian authorities have arrested 31 people, including a Senegalese national and a Sierra Leonean woman, during a nationwide anti-drug operation conducted between June 21 and July 5.
According to the Drug Law Enforcement Agency of The Gambia (DLEAG), those arrested include 29 Gambians, one Senegalese, one Sierra Leonean, 30 men, one woman and a 16-year-old minor.
The operations were carried out across Kanifing, the West Coast Region, Banjul, the North Bank Region and the Upper River Region, leading to the seizure of cannabis sativa, skunk, hashish, kush, ecstasy and MDMA (Molly).
Among those arrested were Lamin Sanyang, Kebba Jarju, Sulayman Sanyang and Alieu Jallow, while Senegalese national Omar Jow was apprehended at the Mbollet-elle checkpoint on June 25.
Additional operations between July 3 and 5 led to further arrests and drug seizures in several locations, including Kololi. The DLEAG said all suspects remain in custody as investigations continue ahead of possible prosecution.
