Mali’s transitional President, General Assimi Goïta, has inaugurated renovated facilities at the Kati Armed Forces Polyclinic, near Bamako, in a project aimed primarily at improving medical care for military personnel wounded in combat.
The facility, inaugurated on September 17, 2026, was fully financed through Mali’s national budget. The upgrades include an MRI scanner, a new oxygen production plant, a third operating theatre, a modern sterilization unit and a refurbished laboratory.
The polyclinic has also been equipped with a new morgue, security post, 20-cubic-metre water tower and electrical transformer.
According to Malian officials, the expanded medical facilities are intended to strengthen the treatment chain for wounded soldiers, improve access to specialized care and increase the capacity of the military health system.
During the inauguration, Goïta toured the facility and visited wounded personnel receiving treatment, offering them his wishes for a speedy recovery.
