Senegalese President and Chairman of the ECOWAS Authority of Heads of State and Government, Bassirou Diomaye Faye, joined a high-level UN meeting Tuesday focused on implementing the Pact for the Future in Africa, held at the United Nations headquarters in New York.
The meeting, organised by Namibia, Zambia, the African Union and the United Nations, brought together leaders to assess progress two years after the Pact for the Future was adopted, as well as challenges and opportunities linked to its implementation. Discussions also addressed the Global Digital Compact and the Declaration on Future Generations.
Speaking in his capacity as ECOWAS chairman, Faye called for renewed multilateralism capable of translating international commitments into action, particularly on development financing, digital transformation and peace.
