Ghanaian police have arrested two men from Nigeria and Burkina Faso in connection with the alleged kidnapping and killing of Senegalese goalkeeper Cheikh Touré in Kumasi in 2025.
The suspects, a 32-year-old Nigerian and a 24-year-old Burkinabè, were arrested on September 20 at a hideout near Mamponteng in Ghana’s Ashanti Region.
Police allege they were part of a group that posed as football agents and used online platforms to lure players. Investigators say the two suspects admitted involvement and provided information about the group during questioning.
Authorities are searching for two other suspects identified as Noukoubri Arzouma Sylviain, also known as Prince Pierre, and Barry.
Touré, 20, was taken to a hospital in Kumasi in critical condition in October 2025 and was pronounced dead on arrival. Ghanaian authorities reported abdominal injuries.
The case prompted Senegal to request a full investigation from Ghana. The two suspects remain in police custody and are expected to appear before a Ghanaian court.
