The Chadian government has received a major donation of medical equipment from China, valued at an estimated 422 million FCFA, as part of ongoing efforts to strengthen health cooperation between the two countries.
The handover ceremony was attended by the Minister of Public Health and Prevention, Dr. Abdelmadjid Abderahim, alongside development partners and diplomats.
UNICEF Representative Luciano Calestini said the equipment, which covers several key health sectors, reflects the strong partnership between Chad and the People’s Republic of China and aligns with UNICEF’s continued support for the Chadian health system, particularly within the framework of the National Development Plan, Chad Connection 2030.

China’s Ambassador to Chad, Wang Xining, said the donation demonstrates the solidarity of the Chinese people with Chad and reaffirmed Beijing’s commitment to supporting the country’s national health policy, praising the close collaboration with Chadian authorities that made the initiative possible.
Dr. Abdelmadjid Abderahim described China as a strategic and reliable partner, noting that the equipment will significantly improve healthcare delivery in intensive care, maternity, neonatology, and emergency services, with a strong focus on women and children.
He added that the support reinforces Chad’s National Health Development Plan and the 2030 development agenda, assuring that the equipment will be managed responsibly to improve the well-being of the population.
