10 Killed, Several Displaced in Gunmen Attack on Ebonyi State, Southeast Nigeria

An attack by gunmen in Nigeria’s Southeast region of Ebonyi State has left at least 10 people dead and displaced dozens.

The attack, which took place on Monday in the Amegu Nkalaha community, is believed to have been orchestrated by members of the separatist group IPOB.

According to police reports, the attackers set fire to several homes and destroyed properties in Ishielu Local Government Area of the State.

Authorities have confirmed that normalcy has been restored, and investigations are underway to identify those responsible for the attack.

While Southeast Nigeria has experienced frequent assaults by armed groups, insecurity in the region has also been worsened by clashes between herders and farmers, with farmland destruction and killings continuing despite calls for a nationwide ranching system.
