Burkina Faso’s President, Captain Ibrahim Traoré, has handed over 2,000 motorcycles to the National Police as part of efforts to strengthen security operations across the country. The official ceremony took place in Ouagadougou on Monday, February 2, 2026.
The motorcycles, branded “Yento,” meaning security in the Gulmancema language, were procured through a special presidential order to enhance police mobility and improve rapid response in both urban and rural areas, particularly in locations that are difficult to access with conventional patrol vehicles.
Authorities say the new equipment will significantly reduce response times and reinforce police visibility as part of the Security 24/7 strategy launched in 2025 to ensure continuous law enforcement presence.
The Minister of Security described the motorcycles as a critical asset in improving operational efficiency and maintaining public safety nationwide.
The initiative aligns with the government’s broader objective of restoring state authority and strengthening a nationwide security network to curb insecurity across Burkina Faso.
