The United Nations has confirmed that a Ghanaian peacekeeper injured during a missile attack on a UN base in Lebanon is recovering after undergoing surgery.
The soldier, Albert Abrefa Busia, a lance corporal with the Ghana Armed Forces, was among four peacekeepers wounded when the Ghanaian Battalion Headquarters serving under the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL) came under attack.
According to the United Nations, the soldier has successfully undergone surgery and is responding well to treatment, with officials describing his recovery as encouraging.
The incident occurred on March 6, when the UN base was hit by two missiles amid escalating hostilities between the Israel Defense Forces and the Lebanese militant group Hezbollah. The missiles reportedly struck the base between 17:45 and 17:52 local time.
