Nigeria Secures $200 Million Investment for Defense and Space Technology Platform

Nigeria is set to benefit from a $200 million investment aimed at developing an industrial and technological platform focused on defense systems, satellite technology, and advanced manufacturing.

The initiative follows the signing of a strategic memorandum of understanding between Nigus International Investment Limited and Elmirate Investment LLC, according to a statement released on Monday.

As part of the agreement, the partners will establish a dedicated entity, Nigus Tactical Systems Ltd, which will oversee investment management, technological integration, and operational development of the project.

The initiative aligns with Nigeria’s ambition to strengthen its sovereign defense capabilities and reduce reliance on imported security infrastructure.

“Africa is entering a crucial phase of its development, where technological capability will increasingly define economic strength and national security,” said Malik Ado-Ibrahim, Executive Chairman of Nigus International Investment Limited. He added that the partnership aims to promote innovation, advanced manufacturing, and technology transfer in Nigeria.

For his part, Pankajj Ghode, Managing Director of Elmirate Capital, said the $200 million commitment reflects strong confidence in Nigeria’s economic potential, noting that the project will link international partners in defense, cybersecurity, aerospace, and advanced technologies with local expertise.

The partnership will operate within Nigeria’s regulatory framework under the supervision of the Defense Industries Corporation of Nigeria, in line with provisions of the DICON Act.

According to the statement, the platform is expected to support the local production of defense equipment, armored vehicles, and protected mobility systems, while also exploring tactical drone technologies, surveillance and intelligence systems, and cyber defense infrastructure.

The project will also integrate satellite technologies, including Earth observation systems, communication infrastructure, and secure satellite networks, supporting both defense operations and selected civilian applications as Nigeria works to develop a national space and defense ecosystem.
