More than 44 nationals from Ghana have been rescued from a fraudulent recruitment network in Nigeria, the Ghanaian Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced.
The victims were reportedly lured through fake job and travel offers circulated mainly on social media, and upon arrival were subjected to exploitative conditions, including restricted movement and pressure to recruit others.
Their rescue followed a coordinated operation on March 16 involving Nigerian security agencies, including the Department of State Services, in collaboration with Ghanaian authorities.
The victims returned to Ghana on March 20, with the government pledging continued efforts to dismantle trafficking networks and support the rehabilitation of those affected, while urging citizens to verify opportunities through official channels.
