Guinea Arrests Terror Suspects Linked to JNIM Networks

The judiciary in Guinea has announced the arrest and indictment of several individuals suspected of links to terrorist networks, following coordinated operations with defense and security forces across the country.

Investigations led to the arrest of 11 suspects in the prefectures of Siguiri, Mandiana, and Kankan, including nationals from Mali, Niger, and Burkina Faso.

Among them, a Malian national identified as Fotigui Daou is accused of belonging to a sleeper cell linked to the Jama’at Nusrat al-Islam wal-Muslimin (JNIM) and participating in hostage-taking operations used to finance terrorism.

Authorities said investigations uncovered online radicalization networks, including messaging groups linked to JNIM with more than 500 members, about 40 of them Guineans.

Several suspects, including Ibrahima Sow and Cheick Ibrahima Savane, were arrested and brought before the Kaloum district court, where they were charged with terrorism, criminal association, and financing of terrorism and placed in detention.

Officials say the arrests come amid rising jihadist activity in the region and have urged the public to remain vigilant and cooperate with authorities in the fight against terrorism.
