Burkina Faso Calls for Deep Reform of OACPS at Malabo Summit

Burkina Faso has called for a profound transformation of the Organisation of African, Caribbean and Pacific States to better respond to global challenges, during the 11th Summit held in Malabo.

Speaking on behalf of President Ibrahim Traoré, Foreign Minister Karamoko Jean Marie Traoré emphasized the need for stronger solidarity among member states and for translating political commitments into concrete, measurable actions in response to security, climate, and economic crises.

Ouagadougou stressed that the relevance and survival of the organization will depend on its ability to adapt to a rapidly changing world marked by rising unilateralism and global instability.

The country also highlighted the growing terrorist threat in the Sahel and reaffirmed its commitment to sovereignty and multilateral cooperation.

Burkina Faso further urged member states to better leverage frameworks such as the Samoa Agreement to promote inclusive and sustainable development, while reinforcing unity and resilience across the bloc.
