President Traoré Hands Over 776 Public Works Equipment to Boost Road Infrastructure

Ibrahim Traoré has delivered a major boost to infrastructure development in Burkina Faso, handing over 776 pieces of public works equipment to the Faso Mêbo Agency.

The handover ceremony, held on May 4, 2026, in Ouagadougou, is aimed at strengthening operational brigades in four regions—Tannounyan, Djôrô, Nando, and Nakambé—as part of efforts to accelerate road construction and improve connectivity across the country.

The equipment includes a wide range of heavy machinery such as graders, bulldozers, hydraulic excavators, compactors, semi-trailers, pickup trucks, asphalt and crushing plants, crane trucks, and tankers. According to Traoré, the priority is to speed up highway works while ensuring safer and more efficient road use.

Addressing regional governors present at the event, the president emphasized the importance of community involvement, urging them to mobilize local populations to actively participate in infrastructure projects.

He argued that such engagement would foster ownership and help preserve the roads.

The initiative is part of the government’s broader policy to open up the national territory and enhance internal connectivity under its development agenda.

With this deployment, the Faso Mêbo Agency is expected to significantly expand its capacity to directly manage and major road projects nationwide.
