Nigeriaian Army Reports 175 ISWAP Fighters Killed in Joint US–Nigeria Operations in Northeast

Nigeria has announced that joint military operations with United States Africa Command (AFRICOM) have resulted in the elimination of 175 Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) fighters since the start of coordinated strikes in the northeast of the country.

According to a statement from the Nigerian Army signed by Major General Samaila Uba, several key ISWAP commanders were also killed, including operatives responsible for coordinating attacks, propaganda dissemination, and media production.

Among those confirmed dead are Abd-al Wahhab, Abu Musa al-Mangawi, and Abu al-Muthanna al-Muhajir, all described as senior figures within the group’s operational and communications structure.

The army said the strikes also destroyed weapons depots, logistics hubs, checkpoints, and financial networks used by the insurgents.

Authorities stressed that joint operations will continue as part of ongoing efforts to dismantle jihadist networks in the Lake Chad Basin, where ISWAP remains one of the most active armed groups.
