Guinean President Mamadi Doumbouya is expected to return to Conakry on Friday, August 14, at 11:00 a.m. following his annual leave in Greece, according to the Civil Cabinet of the Presidency.
The president is scheduled to be welcomed at Ahmed Sékou Touré International Airport by senior civilian, military and diplomatic officials, including Prime Minister Amadou Oury Bah, members of government, heads of republican institutions and representatives of the diplomatic corps.
The announcement concludes an unprecedented communication campaign surrounding the president’s temporary absence. Before his departure, the presidency described the trip as the first officially announced annual leave by a Guinean president, presenting the decision as part of efforts to promote institutional transparency.
During his absence, President Doumbouya assured citizens that Guinea’s institutions remained fully operational and that his commitment to the country was unchanged. The General Staff of the Armed Forces also reaffirmed its loyalty to the president and the institutions while urging the public not to be influenced by rumours or disinformation.
His return on Friday is expected to close the period of official messaging aimed at reassuring the population about the continuity of government during his absence.
