Burkina Faso Records CFA575 Billion in Public Contracts in 2025

Burkina Faso recorded 5,316 public procurement contracts worth CFA574.75 billion in 2025, according to the annual report of the country’s Public Procurement Regulatory Authority (ARCOP).

The report was presented to Prime Minister Rimtalba Jean Emmanuel Ouédraogo in Ouagadougou on Tuesday. Covering 35 central government entities, it showed an 18% increase in the number of contracts compared with 2024, despite a 7% decline in their total value.

ARCOP handled 1,149 procurement-related disputes in 2025, up 16.3% from 988 the previous year. Of 197 decisions monitored, 119 were implemented, representing a compliance rate of 60.41%.

The authority also trained 1,520 participants, including 488 through certification programmes, and began developing a strategy to combat fraud and corruption in public procurement.

Following the report’s presentation, the prime minister called for greater training and communication to improve understanding of procurement procedures and speed up their processing. ARCOP also recommended strengthening staffing and monitoring the implementation of its decisions to improve transparency and efficiency.
