Abducted Cameroonian Children Rescued in Chad During Night Operation

Chadian defense and security forces have rescued six Cameroonian children abducted by kidnappers in the Larmanaye area, near the border with Cameroon.

The operation, which took place overnight from July 12 to 13, 2025, led to the neutralization of the suspects and brought the children back to safety after several days in captivity. Authorities revealed that the kidnappers had demanded a ransom of 30 million CFA francs.

The success of the mission was attributed to close collaboration between security forces, local authorities, and residents who provided critical intelligence.

The children were presented to the press on July 15 by the prefect of Monts de Lam, Idriss Souleymane Bouyemé, who lauded the swift response and professionalism of the forces involved.

Officials say investigations are underway to track and dismantle the networks responsible for ransom kidnappings, a persistent threat in Chad’s border regions of Mayo-Kebbi West and Logone Oriental.
