ACEP Calls for Dissolution of Electricity Company of Ghana Management Amid Bankruptcy Fears

The Africa Centre for Energy Policy (ACEP) has called for the immediate dismissal of the current management of the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG), citing inefficiency in revenue collection and involvement in questionable financial practices like exchange rate manipulation.

This follows a warning from the Public Utility Regulatory Commission (PURC) to the Energy Minister about ECG’s potential bankruptcy.

ACEP’s Policy Lead, Kodzo Yaotse, emphasized that without leadership changes, ECG’s financial crisis could worsen, jeopardizing Ghana’s power supply, and urged the government to intervene swiftly to restore transparency and efficiency in the company’s operations.
