The African Union Commission has announced the appointment of Dr. Yann Bedzigui as the new Chief of Staff to the Chairperson of the institution, replacing Souef Mohamed El-Amine.
The appointment was made by Mahmoud Ali Youssouf as part of efforts to strengthen the Commission’s coordination and governance mechanisms.
According to the AU, Dr. Bedzigui will support the implementation of the organization’s vision, priorities and institutional objectives across the continent.
An academic and international relations specialist, Dr. Bedzigui holds a doctorate in political science and international relations from Panthéon-Assas University and has authored several works on African peace and security policies, conflict prevention and regional dynamics.
The Commission also paid tribute to Ambassador Souef Mohamed El-Amine for his professionalism and contributions during his tenure, while Chairperson Mahmoud Ali Youssouf wished him success in the next phase of his career.
