Burkina Faso Acquires 13 Billion FCFA Agricultural Equipment

The Burkinabe transitional government has secured agricultural equipment worth 13 billion FCFA to boost hydro-agricultural infrastructure under the Presidential Initiative for Agricultural Production and the Agro-Pastoral Offensive.

The equipment, handed over by Transitional President Ibrahim Traoré to the Ministry of Agriculture, includes bulldozers, excavators, compactors, graders, fuel tankers, water tankers, dump trucks, and concrete mixers.

It will be managed by the National Office of Dams and Hydro-Agricultural Development (ONBAH) and the National Society for Land Development and Rural Equipment (SONATER) to improve water access and expand agricultural land.

Minister of Agriculture Ismaël Sombié emphasized that the acquisition would be a key driver in achieving food self-sufficiency by addressing water management challenges.
