Burkina Faso Army Chief Urges Troops to Strengthen Unity in Fight Against Armed Groups

Burkina Faso’s Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces, Major General Moussa Diallo, has called on the country’s Defence and Security Forces (FDS) to strengthen unity, discipline, vigilance and operational commitment as they continue military operations against armed groups.

During a visit to the Kaya garrison from July 29 to 31, General Diallo conveyed the congratulations and encouragement of Transitional President and Commander-in-Chief Captain Ibrahim Traoré, while urging troops to remain united in efforts to restore security and reclaim territory.

He expressed confidence that the armed forces would prevail over the insurgency, stating that the country would “very soon overcome these infidels.”

During the visit, General Diallo met military and paramilitary commanders, troops and regional administrative authorities, stressing that cohesion among the security forces is essential to the country’s counter-insurgency campaign.

He also visited the Kaya Military Hospital, where he met wounded soldiers, praised the dedication of military and civilian medical personnel, and conveyed the nation’s solidarity while wishing the injured a speedy recovery.

The visit comes as Burkina Faso intensifies operations against armed groups that have fueled insecurity across large parts of the country for several years.
