Burkina Faso’s President Ibrahim Traoré has announced plans for a new constitution and further reforms as he approaches four years in power.
Speaking on national television, Traoré said government forces had recovered several areas previously lost to armed groups, while acknowledging that some parts of the country remain difficult to access.
He also said Burkina Faso would maintain closer ties with Mali and Niger through the Alliance of Sahel States, and ruled out a return to its previous relationship with France.
Traoré highlighted state-led economic initiatives, infrastructure and agricultural projects, and expressed support for a joint Burkina Faso-Mali-Niger bid to host the 2032 Africa Cup of Nations.
