Chad Judiciary Hands Down Verdicts in Disciplinary Cases Involving Eight Magistrates

The Chadian High Council of the Judiciary has concluded disciplinary proceedings against eight magistrates, delivering a mix of dismissals, temporary suspensions, and acquittals following a decisive session held on Friday, January 30, 2026, in N’Djamena. The meeting was presided over by Samir Adam Annour, President of the Supreme Court and head of the Council, after hearings were conducted with the affected magistrates and their legal representatives. Following deliberations, four magistrates — Mahamat Saleh Brema, Kagombe Moïse, Adam Mbodou Adam, and Brahim Abbo Abakar — were dismissed from service, with their pension rights fully preserved.

In addition, the Council imposed six-month suspensions from duty on Taoka Bruno and Issa Sougui Djimi, while Oumar Ali Mahamat and Mahamat Ibrahim Issa were cleared of all allegations due to insufficient evidence, bringing their cases to a close. The disciplinary process followed an earlier decision by the Minister of Justice in early December 2025 to suspend all eight magistrates, a move that paved the way for the High Council of the Judiciary to formally examine and rule on the cases.
