Authorities in Chad have recovered more than 100 weapons from civilians during a large-scale disarmament campaign in Military Zone No. 11.
The operation, presented by local military officials, was described as part of ongoing efforts to curb the illegal circulation of firearms in Sila Province, which borders conflict-hit Sudan and hosts thousands of Sudanese refugees.
Zone 11 commander General Egré Egry urged civilians to cooperate with security forces to strengthen protection in the region.
Governor Sadick Siboro Dinga commended the professionalism of the forces involved and called for closer collaboration between local authorities and traditional leaders to consolidate peace and stability in the province.
