Côte d’Ivoire is stepping up efforts to attract Chinese manufacturers and technology companies as it seeks to expand its industrial base and strengthen its position as a regional hub in West Africa.
At the World Manufacturing Convention in Hefei, China, from September 20 to 23, the Investment Promotion Center of Côte d’Ivoire (CEPICI) presented the country’s investment opportunities and industrial development plans to Chinese and international business leaders.
CEPICI Director General Solange Amichia highlighted reforms and projects under the 2026-2030 National Development Plan, which aims to raise industry’s contribution to 30% of GDP. The delegation promoted opportunities in electric vehicles, artificial intelligence, robotics, textiles, agribusiness, tyre manufacturing and water infrastructure.
Talks with Chinese authorities and businesses also focused on technology transfer, technical training and incentives for Chinese companies to establish operations in Côte d’Ivoire. The delegation presented planned industrial clusters and SOGEDI industrial parks as potential bases for manufacturing and expansion into regional markets.
The mission comes ahead of the Côte d’Ivoire-China Economic Forum, scheduled for December 3-5 in Abidjan. CEPICI says it will build on contacts made in China to pursue new technical and financial partnerships with Chinese companies.
