Ivorian President Alassane Ouattara on Wednesday, chaired his first Council of Ministers meeting, following his official re-election for a fourth five-year term in the October 25 presidential election.
Addressing his cabinet, the President expressed delight at resuming government business after what he described as a decisive electoral process that reaffirmed the people’s confidence in his leadership.
He said the outcome of the polls reflected the continued trust and support of Ivorians for the government’s collective efforts.
He used the occasion to thank his ministers and political allies for their role in what he called a collective victory.
Ouattara commended the government, national institutions, Civil Society Organizations, and all participants in the electoral process for ensuring that the election was conducted peacefully and on schedule.
He said adherence to constitutional timelines strengthened the credibility of state institutions and deepened the country’s democratic culture.
