Ivorian President Alassane Ouattara has been named the winner of the 2025 African Peace Prize. He will be honoured at the upcoming African Peace Conference in Nouakchott, Mauritania, according to an official announcement.

Coordinator of the Conference, Sheikh Al Mahfoudh Bin Bayyah, said the Ivorian leader was selected for his commitment to common humanist values ​​and his unwavering support for peaceful solutions have greatly contributed to the consolidation of peace in the West African sub-region.

President Ouattara joins the ranks of previous laureates, including Adama Barrow (2024), Muhammadu Buhari (2023), and Mohamed Bazoum (2022), in receiving this prestigious prize that celebrates individuals and institutions fostering peace across Africa.

The ceremony, supported by the Mauritanian government and the Abu Dhabi Peace Forum, will take place under the patronage of Mauritanian President Mohamed Ould Cheikh El Ghazouani. This event underscores the importance of collaborative efforts in promoting peace across the continent.
