Six new members have been elected to the Confederation of African Football (CAF’s) executive committee, solidifying their place in the decision-making process of world football.
The election, which took place at the 14th Extraordinary General Assembly of CAF in Cairo, on Wednesday, followed the re-election of Patrice Motsepe as CAF president and the renewal of part of the executive committee.
The newly appointed members – Faouzi Lekjaa – Morocco, Ahmed Yahya – Mauritania, Kanizat Ibrahim – Comoros, Hany Abo Ridha – Egypt, Souleiman Waberi – Djibouti, and Hamidou Djibrilla Hima – Niger ; will serve a four-year term.
The fierce contest saw twelve candidates vying for just six available seats, with each campaigning vigorously to secure their position on this influential body.
