French President Emmanuel Macron has met with Senegalese President Bassirou Diomaye Faye in Paris to strengthen cooperation between their countries.
The talks focused on economic ties, security, memorial issues, and preparations for the 2026 Africa-France summit.
Macron also praised Senegal’s efforts to host the Youth Olympic Games in Dakar, pledging France’s support based on its experience with the Paris Games.
Relations between France and Senegal have shifted in recent years, particularly with the withdrawal of French troops at Senegal’s request and the return of military bases to local control.
Despite this, both nations continue to pursue joint initiatives in education, culture, and economic development, with leaders reaffirming their commitment to renewed partnership.
