Ghana Confirms Truck Carrying Traders Caught in Attack in Burkina Faso

The Ghanaian government has confirmed receiving reports of a terrorist attack in Burkina Faso involving a truck transporting tomato traders from Ghana. In a statement signed by Interior and National Security Minister Muntaka Mohammed-Mubarak, authorities described the incident as troubling.

The attack reportedly occurred on Saturday, February 14, 2026, in Titao, where the vehicle carrying Ghanaian nationals was caught up in the violence.

According to the statement, Ghana’s embassy in Burkina Faso is working closely with local officials to gather accurate information and verify the identities of any citizens affected.

Officials said efforts are underway to visit the scene and assess the situation, with assurances that the public will be kept informed as details emerge.

The incident comes amid persistent security challenges across parts of the Sahel, where armed attacks have become increasingly frequent in recent years.
