Ghana has officially suspended diplomatic relations with the Sahrawi Arab Democratic Republic (SADR), as announced by Morocco’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
The decision was conveyed in a formal document issued by Ghana’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration and communicated through diplomatic channels to the African Union, the United Nations, and Morocco.
Ghana also emphasized its support for the “good-faith” efforts made by the Kingdom of Morocco to reach a mutually acceptable solution.
Having initially recognized the SADR in 1979, Ghana now joins 46 other countries, including 13 African nations, that have severed or suspended relations with the SADR since 2000.
