Ghana Denies Claims of Issuing Passports to Foreign Nationals

Ghana’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs has refuted viral social media claims alleging that Ghanaian passports are being issued to foreign nationals.

In a statement released on July 24, the Ministry described the accusations as false and baseless, following the circulation of a video suggesting officials were granting passports to non-citizens.

The Ministry emphasized that all passport applications are subjected to strict document verification and in-person vetting to confirm the applicant’s nationality.

It reiterated its commitment to maintaining the integrity of Ghanaian passports through advanced security systems and staff training.

The statement also warned that presenting forged documents is a criminal offence under the Criminal Offences Act 1960 (Act 29), and violators will face prosecution.
