President John Mahama has announced that Ghana is in negotiations with the United States over the 15 percent tariffs imposed under the Trump administration and discussions on the renewal of the African Growth and Opportunity Act (AGOA).
Speaking at the Jubilee House on October 1 during the commissioning of new Ambassadors and High Commissioners, he emphasized that the outcome of these talks will be vital for Ghana’s trade prospects.
The president also urged the newly appointed envoys to actively shape Ghana’s international image, stressing that diplomacy involves safeguarding the country’s reputation as well as negotiating deals.
He described Ghana as a stable democracy with a strong record of peaceful transitions, open to trade and investment, a hub for innovation and creativity, and a leading cultural and tourism destination.
