Ghana Honours Indian Prime Minister Modi, Seeks Deeper Strategic Partnership

Ghana has awarded Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi in recognition of his leadership and commitment to strengthening India-Africa relations, as both nations pledged to deepen cooperation in key sectors such as trade, agriculture, renewable energy, digital innovation, and youth empowerment.

During a joint press conference in Accra on Wednesday, July 2, President John Dramani Mahama emphasized the urgency of expanding collaboration between the two countries across strategic areas vital to their development.

Prime Minister Modi’s visit to Ghana marks the beginning of a multi-continent diplomatic tour aimed at reinforcing India’s ties with the Global South.

Welcomed personally by President Mahama, the visit signals a renewed focus on bilateral relations and sustainable partnerships.

After Ghana, Modi’s itinerary includes stops in Namibia, Trinidad and Tobago, Argentina, and Brazil, where he will engage in various bilateral and multilateral meetings centered on global cooperation, climate action, and economic advancement.
