Ghana Hosts Netherlands Fire Chief to Tackle Recurring Market Blazes

Ghana is receiving support from the Netherlands as Chief Fire Officer Johan Tuitert visits the country to assess persistent fire outbreaks, particularly in major markets.

The visit included high-level discussions with Interior Minister Muntaka Mohammed-Mubarak and Ghana’s Fire Service leadership, focusing on improving fire prevention and emergency response systems.

Officials say the engagement aims to strengthen capacity building, training, and technical cooperation to address recurring fire incidents that have caused significant economic losses.

The Dutch fire chief, who brings decades of operational experience, is expected to support Ghana in developing more sustainable safety strategies and improving national preparedness.
