Ghana has secured $3.5 billion in investment commitments to expand oil and gas operations and drill new wells, Energy and Green Transition Minister John Jinapor has said.
Speaking at the opening of African Energy Week, Jinapor said the government was pursuing legal and fiscal reforms to attract investors and rebuild confidence in the country’s upstream petroleum sector.
He made the announcement during a discussion with Kosmos Energy chief executive Andrew Inglis and African Energy Chamber executive chairman NJ Ayuk.
Jinapor said the government’s priorities include increasing local participation, expanding domestic refining capacity and ensuring petroleum resources generate jobs, strengthen energy security and deliver broader economic benefits.
He added that the reforms aim to create a more predictable investment environment while protecting Ghana’s national interests.
