The Ghanaian government has extended the curfew imposed on Bawku Municipality and its surrounding areas in the Upper East Region.
The revised curfew hours, now set from 8:00 PM to 5:00 AM, will take effect from Monday, February 24, 2025, according to a statement issued by the Ministry for the Interior.
Minister Muntaka Mohammed-Mubarak has urged local chiefs, elders, youth, and residents to exercise restraint and prioritize peaceful conflict resolution.
A total ban remains in place on the possession of arms, ammunition, and offensive weapons in the affected areas. Authorities have warned that anyone found with such items will face arrest and prosecution.
