The Government of Ghana is calling for the implementation of a long-term national development strategy to promote policy stability and continuity beyond electoral cycles.
Spearheaded by the National Development Planning Commission (NDPC), the initiative aims to address structural challenges and guide the country’s transformation regardless of changes in political leadership.
President John Mahama emphasized this direction during the swearing-in ceremony of new NDPC members on Tuesday, May 20, calling for a development model rooted in the vision of Ghana’s first president, Dr. Kwame Nkrumah.
Returning to office last December after an eight-year absence, Mahama stressed the importance of creating a coherent, inclusive plan that builds on existing frameworks.
He urged the NDPC to closely involve both Parliament and the population in shaping the strategy.
The move reflects a commitment to ending the frequent policy disruptions caused by electoral transitions and fostering a predictable future for all Ghanaians.
