Ghana’s President John Mahama has issued a strong warning to his ministerial appointees, stressing that non-performance will not be tolerated under his administration.
Speaking on April 24, 2025, during the open day of a four-day Executive Leadership Programme for Ministerial Appointees, the president urged ministers to focus on tangible results and meet the expectations of the Ghanaian people who voted for change.
He emphasized that their roles come with a responsibility to deliver, especially to youth, farmers, workers, and entrepreneurs who are eager for meaningful development and prosperity.
President Mahama described the retreat, held in partnership with the United Nations Development Programme, as a platform to reshape governance and promote responsive, accountable leadership.
He dismissed the old “business-as-usual” style of administration and called for a new, results-oriented approach. Highlighting the urgency of public demands, he warned that he would take immediate action against any appointee who fails to meet their mandate.
The retreat marks the first of its kind under the current administration and includes participation from ministers, development partners, and members of the private sector.
