Guinea and Senegal have signed a protocol to implement a bilateral agreement on maritime fisheries and aquaculture, aimed at regulating fishing activities, safeguarding marine resources, and supporting coastal communities.
The agreement, signed on Saturday by Senegal’s Minister of Fisheries and Maritime Economy, Dr. Fatou Diouf, and her Guinean counterpart, Fatima Camara, emphasizes cooperation based on trust, solidarity, and a shared commitment to sustainable marine management.
The protocol outlines measures for supervising fishing operations, protecting artisanal and industrial fishers, conducting joint maritime surveillance, and promoting research, training, and health control of fishery products.
It also reinforces efforts to combat illegal fishing and expand aquaculture for the benefit of both countries’ populations.
