Guinea Establishes Key Electoral Commissions Ahead of 2025 Presidential Vote

Guinea has set up two key bodies to oversee the financing and sponsorship process for candidates in the upcoming presidential election slated for December 28, 2025.

The Director General of Elections, Djenabou Touré Camara, inaugurated members of the financial commission and the sponsorship validation commission on Saturday in Conakry, marking a major step toward ensuring a transparent electoral process.

The financial commission will determine the amount of deposits required from candidates and set limits on campaign spending, while the sponsorship commission will verify candidate identities and validate sponsorships under the supervision of the General Directorate of Elections.

Authorities say the creation of these commissions demonstrates the government’s commitment—through the presidency, prime minister’s office, and the Ministry of Territorial Administration—to conduct a credible, transparent, and orderly election.
