Guinea’s Transitional Council Hands Over Draft Constitution to President Doumbouya

Guinea’s President General Mamadi Doumbouya has officially received the draft of the new Constitution, developed through a national consultation process led by the National Transitional Council (NTC).

The handover ceremony, held at the Mohammed V Palace, was attended by government officials, diplomats, and institutional partners.

According to the Presidency’s Directorate of Communication, this milestone marks a significant phase in the country’s institutional reform agenda, emphasizing national unity and popular sovereignty.

The draft Constitution is the outcome of widespread citizen engagement, expert review, and inclusive dialogue. President Doumbouya maintained neutrality throughout the process to ensure the text’s legitimacy.

The next phase involves a nationwide awareness campaign ahead of a constitutional referendum set for September 21, 2025. The presidency affirmed that the initiative aligns with the reform roadmap launched on September 5, 2021, to establish strong and credible institutions for the Guinean people.
