The Transitional President General Mamadi Doumbouya urged Guineans to uphold national unity, discipline, and solidarity while consolidating the country’s economic sovereignty on the eve of Guinea’s 67th Independence Day.
In his address, Doumbouya recalled the “courageous choice” of the nation’s founding fathers on October 2, 1958, who prioritized freedom and dignity—values he said must continue to guide the nation.
Since seizing power in September 2021, the transitional authorities have launched a series of reforms, including securing Guinea’s first-ever sovereign credit rating of B+ with a stable outlook—a milestone Doumbouya described as proof of credibility and growing confidence from international partners.
He also emphasized the Simandou 2040 strategic project, which he called “the engine of the future.” The initiative aims to ensure the rational exploitation of mineral wealth, fund modern infrastructure, and invest in human capital to drive sustainable prosperity built on rigor, discipline, and excellence.
Paying tribute to past generations, the president called on citizens to remain united and disciplined in building “the Guinea of tomorrow—upright and respected.”Guinea will celebrate the 67th anniversary of its independence this Thursday, October 2, marking its historic 1958 decision to proclaim sovereignty.
