Ivorian Music Star Molare Released on Bail After Fatal Road Accident

Ivorian musician Maury Féré Soumahoro, popularly known as Molare, says he now wants to dedicate himself to youth, culture, peace, and social cohesion in Côte d’Ivoire, following his release on bail after two months in detention.

The Coupé-décalé star had been jailed in July on manslaughter charges after a traffic accident in Abidjan that claimed the life of Elise Tola, a young woman walking on the sidewalk. According to Molare, his car’s rear wheel supports failed while he was driving to work, causing him to lose control of the vehicle.

Molare described his prison experience as difficult but also eye-opening. He said he encountered harsh realities alongside moments of humanity, expressing gratitude to prison guards, inmates, and religious leaders who supported him. He also thanked his professional team for maintaining his work during his absence, as well as fans for their prayers and encouragement.

The artist emphasized that the tragedy had made him reflect deeply on the value of freedom and expressed his condolences once again to the victim’s family, praising their dignity throughout the ordeal.
